This clinic uses a group setting to teach riders the fundamental bike handling skills for safe and fun mountain biking. Compared to other styles of riding, mountain biking uniquely challenges riders with constant changes in trail steepness, width, rocks, soil, roots, and other obstacles. Learning the proper body position and bike maneuvers to overcome these features is key to a safe and enjoyable ride. The fundamentals clinic will cover the following bike handling skills:

Bike & Body Separation

Maintaining Balance over Trail Features

Climbing & Descending

Braking and Speed Control

Shifting

Intro to Cornering

Riding a Berm

Safe Dismounts

Track Stand

Pressure Control (pumping the pump, floating over rocks)

 

This clinic is taught by Ozark Bike Guides founder Alex Martens. He is a professionally certified instructor who's committed to helping others have more fun on bikes!
